A typical spam filter works by trying to guess which email is good and which is spam. It often mistakes good messages for spam. This way you are never sure whether there are no legitimate emails you have just been waiting for among thousands of emails that have been deleted or marked as junk!
Purgy works by accepting emails from people you trust, asking unknown senders to verify they are not spammers.

Apart from filters that try to tell which emails you want based on a fixed set of rules created by authors of the anti-spam software, there are the better ones that actually get better in recognizing spam as you use them. But there is a fine print too. In order for those spam filters to be usable at all you need to train them by marking spam messages coming to your inbox for as long as two weeks or even longer!
Purgy works right away. You may want to create a list of people you accept emails from right at the beginning but you may also have Purgy ask them to verify and have it happen automatically.

Purgy has a very simple user interface ( take a look...). It's designed to easily integrate with your email programs and work seamlessly in the background.
